OUR MISSION AND VALUES
Eden Earthworks is committed to growing healthy food and creating food self-sufficiency through sustainable farming practice. We promote healthy food choices by connecting members of the community with the land.
A key element in this transition is the development of ‘farmers’ through agricultural education. Participating community members and volunteers pass on the gifts of sustainable farming and recycling methods, thus creating a ripple effect of ensuring the availability of healthy affordable food.

Eden Earthworks a family-owned farm created in 2008, practices sustainable farming. We are an independent not-for-profit public charity under Section 501 c (3) of the International Revenue Code. Our goal is to contribute to the locally grown produce and raise community awareness of the benefits of eco-friendly farming. Our food growing methods promote healthy human-ecological relationships.
Eden Earthworks grows food to feed the hungry. We donate organic eggs and honey to our local food bank. Recently we became one of the first family-owned farms in Hawaii to receive the Animal Welfare Approval seal for environmentally responsible and humanely raised chickens.
As the economy struggles, community gardens grow. Community gardens are becoming critically important to provide people with healthy affordable food. Over 85% of awHaw Hawaii’s food and 99% of seed are imported from off-island (Huffington Post 2010; Kohala Center 2008). The lack of island grown food disproportionately impacts negatively the economically disadvantaged. Besides putting food on the family table, Eden Earthworks’ Community Gardens builds community, provides recreation and plants seeds of hope. The Eden Earthworks agricultural educational program teaches the process of saving seed, propagating plants and planting, harvesting and marketing produce. Hawaiian hot peppers, edamame, taro, eggplants, okra, squash, purple potatoes, bok choy, kale, tumeric, cassava, corn and herbs, are some of the eco-friendly foods grown here.
